Job Description
Purpose of Role

Field development geology on one of CNR’s key producing deep water turbidite fields within our core West African assets. The role is key to the success of the project and will involve working closely with the field geophysicist, exploitation engineer, production engineer and drilling engineer to plan for the next major phase of development drilling.

West Africa is a growth area where CNR is expanding activity over the coming years through both increased drilling and asset purchases. Some work on evaluating other acquisition opportunities is to be expected. Some mentoring of more junior staff and project phase leadership will also be expected.
 

Duties & Responsibilities

Development Drilling Planning

Responsible for Geological Tasks within the team with a focus on static model building, up-scaling and well planning of turbidite reservoirs.

  • Static model building – using Petrel application suite.
  • Close working with the reservoir, drilling and completion engineers.
  • Geological model supportInfill well planning, and generation and management of a well inventory portfolio.
  • Monitoring of wells during drilling and well geosteering support.

Acquisitions

  • There is the possibility of farm-in evaluations

Working Environment

  • Characterised by working on a major operated project, in a multidisciplinary team environment, with both responsibility and accountability.

There may be occasional travel to West Africa and/or London for meetings.

  • Knowledge of turbidite reservoirs.

  • Acquisitions and farm ins.
  • Risk analysis.
Leadership Skills 

Not essential for this role, but candidate would be expected to make technical recommendations and lead the geophysics aspects of the team.
 
Other Skills / Experience 

AVO and rock physics experience would be an advantage.
Qualifications
Degree or equivalent.
